The South African Meteorological Service has warned Gauteng residents of a possible flooding on Thursday that can be provoked by heavy rains. A flood in Limpopo has already been reported.
According to the Johannesburg Metro Police Department representative, Wayne Minnaar, motorists should be more careful on the roads during heavy precipitation and avoid flooded areas:
“Where there are roads that have been flooded, do not take a chance to try and drive on those roads because a little bit of water can sweep people off the road.”
As it has been noted by the SA Weather Services forecaster Vanetia Phakula, rivers are flooded in Limpopo and Phalaborwa. The rains in these areas are also expected in the near future.
The heavy precipitation as well as a planned 2 Stage load shedding could also provoke a heavy traffic.
