South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed shock and strong anger at the recent occasions in the Eskom energy company. At the African Union heads of state summit in Addis Ababa Ramaphosa said that in view of the power outage at Stage 4, Eskom is in a “danger zone”.
Also, the South African president was shocked by the fact that the six generators in the power plant were not functioning properly.
“I am also quite angry that we have reached this stage of dysfunctionality, and the minister of public enterprises is busy right now, together with the board, with that issue,” Ramaphosa added.
Cyril Ramaphosa also stressed that the decisions, which the government will apply in relation to the energy company, will be tough. However, Ramaphosa said, it was necessary to resolve the crisis in Eskom.
In addition, the president pointed out that consumers who did not pay for electricity, also caused great damage to Eskom.
Eskom started to implement a load shedding again on Sunday. Then, on Monday, the power outage has occurred at Stage 4, after some power units failed.
Eskom announced a load shedding at Stage 3 on Tuesday. According to the company’s press office, the outage will be carried out today from 08:00 to 23:00.
