More and more out-of-work South Africans get their jobs within the country. According to the latest stats published on Tuesday, the unemployment rate has dropped to 27.1% in the fourth quarter of 2018 from 27.5% in the third quarter.
Experts link that drop to the seasonal conditions, saying the hiring process is at its peak during the end of the year. Investec’s Kamilla Kaplan predicted that we would see a reverse situation and an increase in rate numbers in the next couple of months.
For the time being, there are 6,1 million unemployed people registered in the Republic compared to 16.5 million people who have a full-time job.
