The Hawks squads have arrested seven people, aged 50 to 78, on allegations of corruption related to the infamous Bosasa company.
According to Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi, the arrests were made in the context of a marathon investigation wherein approximately R1.6bn is said to have been misappropriated. He also noticed those officials had previously received gifts in the form of cash as well as other sorts of financial support.
“It’s based on the investigation that has been ongoing. We have now taken a decision to bring those fingered in corruption to court today (Wednesday). They are currently being processed and will appear today at the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court,” Mulaudzi said.
However, he has not revealed the suspects’ names, but one of them is likely to be a former commissioner of Correctional Services Linda Mti, according to the media articles.
