A highly contagious measles virus continues to infect more and more Madagascar residents across the island territory.
According to the World Health Organization reports, medics have registered over 33 000 cases with 569 being laboratory-confirmed (others were epidemiologically linked).
The outbreak started in early October 2018 has already spread on all of the 22 regions of Madagascar, translating into the epidemic phase. As for today, 139 measles-related fatalities have been reported.
The local Health Care Department is consistently working with world-wide sector experts to prevent further spread of the disease.
