On Monday, February 4, the mining industry experts have announced the assessment results of the death toll among mineworkers.

As stated by the South African mining industry body group, the Mineral Council, 2018 was marked by less casualties compared to the previous year.

The report mentions 84 miners killed as a result of the mining-related accidents last year. In 2017, 89 people died in the South Africa mines.

It is noteworthy that the South African mining industry produced a third of the bullion mined and is known to have the deepest mines in the world.
