Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has denied rumors about a rift with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. Mnangagwa assured there was no conflict between him and the Vice President.
In addition, the president said that the information about a possible coup in the country, supposedly planned in January when Mnangagwa was abroad, is unreliable.
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa stated there were no signs of disagreement between him and the Vice President, a retired general. Mnangagwa also pointed out that Chiwenga was his long-standing comrade:
“I have known Chiwenga and his colleagues since the struggle years. We are comrades and understand each other better than you think,” Mnangagwa said.
