About 250 protesters staged a demonstration near the closed headquarters of Vodacom in Midrand to show their support for “Please Call Me Inventor Nkosana Makate” in a peaceful way.

On Thursday, January 31, Vodacom spokesperson Byron Kennedy said that Vodacom’s main office, like retail stores, will be closed during the day. The decision was made after the ANC Liliesleaf Farm Branch and members of the “Please Call Me” movement held a joint briefing. It was reported the mobile communications team did not provide Nkosana Makate with a fair compensation.

As the ANC Liliesleaf Farm Branch stated, the closure of Vodacom’s campus turned out to be a “company ploy” to avoid confronting those who accuse it of fraud.

Vodacom, in turn, said that it is ready to pay Nkosana Makate a considerable compensation.
