The body of the former SA resident and businessman André Hanekom, who passed away while he was in Mozambique prison, has successfully arrived back in South Africa on Thursday.
The repatriation was allowed after lots of diplomatic and bureaucratic litigation as Hanakom, while he was alive, faced charges related to terrorism.
For now, his wife Francis is waiting for the remains to proceed through an independent autopsy which will help determine the exact cause of businessman’s death. The relatives believe that Hanekom did not passed away of natural causes but got poisoned instead.
The assassination, according to Francis, was performed by the business-opponents of the deceased, who wanted him to be dead.
Francis also told journalists that she had received anonymous threats. An unknown person demanded bitcoins from Andre’s family otherwise threatening to kill him.
