An order for the final State of the Nation Address (Sona) was adopted. It was reported by the chairmen of the parliament headed by National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete.
Mbete reported on the preparations for the event, which will be held next week.
“With 2019 being an election year, the work of hosting the two states of the nation addresses, one signifying the end of the fifth term of Parliament and the second one, the ushering in of the sixth Parliament and administration is underway,” Mbete said.
The traditional nation address provides a valuable opportunity for the president to talk with the South Africans and discuss the economic and political situation in the country, and also to hear their opinions.
According to Mbete, the parliament began preparing for Sona last year.
