On Wednesday, January 23, members of the Zimbabwe Defense Forces took control of Bulawayo roadblocks.

Soldiers regulate the fare payment process for buses and ensure that motorists coming from the west to the Central Business District are charged a previously fixed fare of $1.

The operation currently being carried out by soldiers, is a part of a plan to restore peace after the January protests.

Earlier, the Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa expressed his condemnation of the country’s defense forces, who use violence during protests, and also urged protesters to turn to dialogue and peace.
