South Africa CPI fell 0.7% in December


According to new data published by Statistics South Africa, country’s headline consumer inflation experienced the 0.7% fall in December, slowing down from 4.5% year on year in December from 5.2% in November.

Year-on-year core inflation (excludes some of the prices, such as the costs of food, non-alcoholic beverages and petrol as well as energy payments) stayed the same: 4.4% in December from 4.4% in November, said in the report showed on Wednesday.

In relation to month-on-month statistics, however, core inflation slightly rose: 0.3% in December from 0.2% in the previous month.
