On Tuesday morning, central streets of Johannesburg are being partially blocked by the marching group of protestors from the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU).
The strike has been underway since 11am and will affect the Westgate Transport Hub as well as Marshall Street and Simmons Street in the city during the next hours, JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar confirmed.
South African workers have decided to organize a big procession as the way to express dissatisfaction with salary issues at Sibanye Stillwater, which appears far from resolving.
Strike against the company has been only shared by gold-sector miners yet. However, according to industry experts, the second such one will spread to the platinum sector, putting Stillwater’s operations within it at risk of a standstill.
