Residents of three communities in Cape Town — Bonteheuwel, Valhalla Park and Bishop Lavis — are in fear of a possible gang war, which may unfold on the city streets following a spate of fatal shootings.
In recent weeks several non-typical incidents with alleged local gangs’ members have happened at the area.
On last Sunday, criminals organized a shootout resulted in 3 gangsters’ death and 1 man, also affiliated to the gang, being seriously wounded. After that community leaders urged SAPS and Metro police to help the residents and bring some patrol units.
“While I think that gangsters should be ashamed of themselves, police management and the roaming gang unit, who have done absolutely nothing for our communities, should hang their heads in shame as the area is now a red zone, ” Bonteheuwel ward councillor Angus McKenzie said.
