South Africans who have citizenship but are abroad, will be able to vote in general elections. Registration will be held from 1 to 4 February in 120 South Africa’s foreign missions. In addition, for registration will be available high commissions, embassies and consulates outside the country.
Persons over the age of 16 who have a active ID book, smart ID card or temporary ID, will be able to vote in 2019 general elections. You should visit the office of a foreign representative office on the days of registration with your ID and an actual South African passport.
The fact that you will vote outside the country should be reported to the Electoral Commission in advance. You also have ti fill the online form on the IEC website after the date of national elections have been announced.
