During the Double Troika Summit held in Ethiopia, leaders of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) appealed to the international community to respect the sovereignty of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Speakers called for the territorial integrity of the Democratic Republic of Congo, based on the AU Constitutive Act and the SADC Treaty. During the summit, parties discussed the political situation in the DRC after the recent elections.
SADC leaders noted that the international community should support the DRC government in order to maintain peace and stability in the republic.
Among speakers at the summit were South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Namibian President Hage Geingob, Angola’s President João Lourenço, and Zambia’s President Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
