The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) appealed to the country’s government with a request to stop shoot at protesting citizens. The announcement was made by the council after protests that began in Harare, provoked by the decision to raise fuel prices.
According to information provided by the Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights, some 30 protesters received necessary medical care.
“The church also urges all citizens of goodwill to assist those injured and comfort the bereaved. The church also calls upon all public health facilities to ensure that all those affected will access immediate help and treatment without discrimination,” ZCC said.
The Zimbabwe Council of Churches added that, unfortunately, behind the protests followed property destruction, people’s deaths and violence.
