The Home Affairs Minister Siyabonga Cwele is going to visit front offices of the department in Soweto, Roodepoort and Randburg.

According to a statement, inspection primary goals are to check the ministry’s services, making sure they all work properly before the start of the final voter registration weekend for the 2019 National and Provincial Elections.

From January 26 till January 27 South Africans will have the last opportunity to visit voting stations and update their voters’ information or register new documents in case a resident has not done this yet. Offices will be opened after 8am, will work until 5pm.

Today the country has over 26 million registered voters, according to the last published data. Authorities expect another million to be added to the lists before the election process begins.
