Safa President Danny Jordaan revealed that South Africa had over 456,000 women footballers these days. Numbers have been doubled since 2013 when only around 200,000 female residents were into amateur or professional football leagues.
“So, there’s been an explosion of women coming to play football, ” Jordaan concluded.
According to his speech, Safa’s ultimate goal is to pass the million mark as soon as possible, but to achieve these numbers leagues should be funded more. Jordaan also added that South African athletes were “among the most skillful in the world”.
