Police anti-drug units arrested twelve Chinese who were working at the construction site in the city of Chipata, Zambia’s Eastern Province.
The provincial government permanent secretary Chanda Kasolo says all of them were involved in cultivation of cannabis with no permit allowing to do so. Officers also uprooted 6.2kg of plants found on the scene.
He also mentioned that investigation process would seriously affect the building development as it delayed the construction works.
The offenders can be jailed for a maximum of five years if the court finds them guilty.
