A tragic incident that took place at Wolfgat Nature Reserve on Wednesday ended up with one death. A man believed to be in his twenties tried to rescue a girl, 13, from the sea water but instead drowned himself.
Seaside lifeguards arrived at the scene after several reports from residents. According to official information, the teen who appeared to be a disabled person was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
As Craig Lambinon from the National Sea Rescue Institute’s (NSRI) said, there was another man who attempted to help but got into trouble.
“An unidentified man went into the surf and was able to assist them from the water but he had left the scene before his details could be obtained,” Lambinon explained.
