Police arrested a man who appears to be involved in bombing of a cash-in-transit van in Tshongweni, Katlehong. The incident that happened in early November 2018 led to serious injuries for an Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department officer.
According to the official statement, a case was opened after the bombing and detectives started to search for new information about the suspect. At the beginning of the week the investigation brought its results and the criminal was found.
“On Monday, around 19:30, the suspect was spotted and the operational team cornered him whereupon an AK47 with two magazines and sixty live rounds as well as a 9mm pistol with filed off serial numbers were recovered in his car and at his house at Sunrise Ext II in Zonkizizwe,” Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said.
