The 2018 Index of Economic Freedom has markedly improved in South Africa. Previously, the Republic of South Africa was the 77th of 100 countries worldwide in terms of economic freedom by the Heritage Foundation decision. It has made South Africa the 4th country in the African region.

According to General Manager for Research for Brand South Africa, Dr Petrus de Kock, the index allows us to familiarize ourselves with some details about the economic situation in South Africa.

The improvement of indicators in South Africa is associated with success in property rights, the judicial system, finances, progress in business freedom, labor and investment.

“Notable improvements for South Africa in 2018 include the improvement in the area of investment freedom, and judicial effectiveness. The latter is significant coming in a year where the administration of President Ramaphosa made investment a focal area of its work,” Dr Petrus de Kock said.
