Western Cape Education MEC Debbie Schafer shared her emotions after the National Senior Certificate Examination. Schafer noted that she was very pleased that pass rate in Cape Town has increased in both mathematics and physical sciences.
She stressed that the mathematics pass rate had increased from 73% to 76%, and physical sciences passing score had risen from 73% to 79.5%:
“I am very pleased that in the Western Cape we have managed to retain our excellent indicators of quality in the 2018 NSC. We have retained a very high percentage of bachelors passes which have increased from last year to 42.3% from 39.1%, which is incredibly pleasing,” Debbie Schafer said.
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga had earlier announced 2018 National Senior Certificate Examination results.
Motshekga noted that the passing score for the 2018 Matric class exceeded last year’s results and was equal to 78.2%.
