The plate was a full one on Christmas Day for the public health facilities around Gauteng where 324 healthy babies were born.

The Department of Health reported that a total of 148 females and 176 males were born this Tuesday.

“Another set of twins, included in the total number of babies, was born at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic hospital,” the statement read.

Speaking at Sebokeng hospital, Gauteng Health MEC Gwen Ramokgopa encouraged teenagers to use contraceptives and highlighted how valuable the health education was and that people must take the health, wellness and happiness campaign very seriously.

Ramokgopa also advised new parents to take care of their babies and ensure they received all the necessary healthcare and nutrients to grow healthy and strong.
